Audio

Sound plays a fundamental role in crafting credible and immersive environments. It encompasses everything from ambient noise to the interactive sounds of vehicles or weapons, musical cues, and spoken dialog. The overall user experience in a game can significantly be enhanced or hindered by the quality of audio.

idStudio’s audio system equips users with a range of tools and features to shape the sound to align with their creative vision. This allows for a clean version of the sound to be initially produced in an external application, imported, and then refined within the engine to achieve the desired outcome.

There are two methods of modding audio in DOOM Eternal.

Method 1: Mod Using Overlay

The Overlay method is a simple and straightforward way to modify audio. If you only want to change a handful of sounds we recommend using this method.

Method 2: Mod Using WWise

The WWise method is a more advanced form of audio modding. You'll need to understand how to use WWise as well as a DAW. We recommend this method if you intend on replacing/adding a large amount of sound effects. Additionally, if you plan on adding your own music to a mod we also recommend using this method.
